Safety & privacy
Veliane is designed so that serious people can meet calmly, and so that fake profiles and pressure have nowhere to grow.
Real people only
- No fake profiles, no false scarcity, no deceptive funnels, honest empty states.
- Every account confirms its email address.
- Your name is set once and cannot be changed later, so nobody can quietly become someone else.
- Your home city is chosen once and is permanent: an honest origin for everyone.
- Ready-made profile starters are clearly marked as examples, never shown as other members.
You decide who reaches you
- The first message is an introduction request: nothing continues until you accept.
- Mute a conversation, or turn on slow mode so a person can send only one message per hour.
- Silence someone so they cannot message you until you choose otherwise, or block them.
- Delete a message for yourself or for both, or delete a whole conversation and unmatch.
- No read receipts and no typing indicators. Your online status is off unless you switch it on.
- Make yourself invisible in public search at any time; members inside Veliane still find you.
Contact details stay private
Phone number and WhatsApp are optional. They are never displayed to other members. You decide if and when you share them with someone, yourself.
Reporting and review
Any member can report a profile as fake, as a scam or fraud, for harassment, or for abuse. The team reviews every report and can send a notice, suspend, ban or permanently remove an account, and block an email address from signing up again.
Your data
- Account and profile data are stored in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany).
- Photos are kept in a private store and shown only through short-lived signed links.
- No advertising and no selling of personal data.
- Only essential cookies on veliane.org: staying signed in, your language, your light or dark choice, and your agreement at sign-up.
- GDPR rights: access, correct, delete, export, restrict, object, withdraw consent; complaints to the CNIL, the French data-protection authority.
- Delete everything yourself in one step: Edit profile → “Delete my profile”. Deletion is immediate and permanent.
Good habits when you meet someone
- Take your time in the chat before sharing your phone number.
- Meet the first times in a busy public place and tell a friend where you are.
- Never send money or gift cards to someone you have not met, whatever the story.
- Report anyone who asks for money, rushes you, or refuses to meet or call.
- Trust your own pace: on Veliane, slow is normal.
